How can we meet the need?
Churches, businesses, schools, civic groups and individuals need to come together in their community to work together, establish “Community Packaging Centers.”
How does HIS suggest funds to be raised?
HIS Jars – spare change at the end of the day is placed in the jar and turned over to the group each month.
Fasting a meal – it is suggested that everyone fast at least one meal per month and contribute the cost of a normal meal to the jar.
Jars – placed in restaurants and businesses
Fund Raisers – by individuals or corporate. It is suggested that money not be taken from the budget, but raised to let God work in everyone’s life.
How does the food packaged by HIS compare to other feeding programs?
NUTRITION – much greater nutritional value
*52% protein and 21 vitamins and minerals are added *Formulated to meet most deficiencies in diets around the world *Rekindles immune system and the mind in addition to satisfying hunger *Majority of programs are rice or beans with no added nutritional value
COST – Each meal costs .25 or $1.50 per bag, feeding six.(Note – we are confident that by central purchasing and working together HIS can reduce the cost per meal to .20 and even below in the future.)
How is responsibility of time to package determined?
Each Branch will be given a day. For example: if your group’s day is the 3rd, your group will be responsible for the 3rd of every month. Any changes must be arranged in cooperation with the Branch responsible for that day.
How much space is needed at a “Packaging Center”?
Approximately 15x20 for each packaging station, plus room for storage of materials and boxed goods.
Is it best to use a church or a neutral site?
A neutral site is best since many groups will be using the site. By sharing costs, it would be a minimal charge to each Branch. This is not mandatory, however.
What about local needs?
It is our desire that local needs be met as they become known. It is vital to care for those in our own area before we can bless others.
What about other areas that have needs?
If any community desires to send the food they package to another destination, then HIS will abide by their wishes.
What about other groups that only want to package occasionally?
They will be responsible for raising the money to cover the cost of the food and arranging time with the Branch responsible for the day they want to package.
What does a “Community Packaging Center” do?
The groups come together and commit to raise needed funds and package food. Each group becomes one of “HIS Branches” and agrees to package at least one day per month and raise the funds to pay for the food.
What does it cost to set up a “Packaging Center”?
Equipment - $1000 per packaging station. It is recommended to start with two stations and add as needed.
Food - $1.50 per bag or .25 per meal. People – Each station needs a team of twelve people.
Time – Varies by the size and age of those packaging. The average is 1500 to 2000 meals per station, per hour.

Where will the food be sent?
HIS primary goal is to feed the starving AIDS orphans, after meeting local need. We have chosen to work with the African Development Foundation led by Bruce and David Wilkinson.
Why become involved with HIS?
HIS is a non profit, non denominational corporation dedicated to working with churches, businesses, schools, civic groups and individuals to be involved in the solution to world hunger.
Why should the US be so concerned?
*6.5% of the world’s Christians live in the United States.
Why should we be concerned with hunger?
*800,000,000 people are in a state of severe malnutrition. *11,000,000 AIDS orphans presently in southern Africa who desperately need food. *40,000 children under five die from starvation and hunger related diseases every day.
Why the African Development Foundation?
We know the Wilkinsons and their work. They are having amazing results, plus they not only feed, but teach the people how to grow food for themselves (see www.neverendinggardens.com). We also know them and their integrity and capabilities.
Will HIS work with other organizations, such as Samaritans Purse and World Vision?
As soon as HIS meets the needs of African Development Foundation, we will begin working with other Christian organizations. This will be dependant upon how rapidly we are able to get communities to come together and begin packaging.
