- August 2002 – Board of Directors formed
after several individuals felt led to start a “Kids Against
Hunger” satellite in Hickory. Tom Mull is asked to serve
as the Executive Director.
- September 2002 – We moved into HIS Place,
which is the Old Brookford Baptist Church building, which was
built in 1907. This was made possible through the generosity and
support of Brookford Baptist who have a new location in Brookford.
- October 26, 2002 – After setting up Friday
evening a grand opening was held and over 9,000 meals were packaged.
Richard Proudfit, the founder of Feeding Children International
and Kids Against Hunger, drove 22 hours pulling a trailer, helped
set up the facility, trained key volunteers and oversaw the first
day of packaging.
- January 2003 - Brookford Baptist donates the
facility that HIS Place is currently using to HIS Place. This
demonstrates a wonderful testimony by Brookford Baptist Church
of their love for Christ, faith in HIS provision, and belief in
HIS Place to do great and wonderful things for Christ. We want
to express our sincere appreciation to Brookford Baptist Church
and to the awesome God whom we serve.

- HIS has been led to begin to form a partnership with God’s
Answer in Johannesburg, South Africa to combat hunger and use
our food to spread the Gospel in Africa. David Wilkinson, son
of Bruce Wilkinson who wrote The Prayer of Jabez and Secrets of
the Vine, leads God’s Answer.
- HIS realizes the tremendous problem of hunger in the US and
starvation around the world and is committed to becoming part
of the solution to this problem. As the founder of Kids Against
Hunger, Richard Proudfit said “How can you tell a child
that Jesus loves them if they are starving”. Our food packets
not only address the hunger and starvation problem but also reactivate
a child’s immune system and stimulate brain activity.
- HIS packaged over 100,000 meals in their first full year, but
much more is needed if we are to impact world hunger significantly.
In praying about this the concept of Branches and Branch Packaging
Centers was birthed. We have opened our first Branch Packaging
Center in Bostwick,
Florida at the Bostwick Baptist Church. This is a small church
with a great heart.
- HIS plans to expand to Florida in 2004. Al Woodward has joined
HIS as Administrative Director and will lead the North Carolina
portion while Tom Mull moves to Florida to lead expansion there.
Join us as we impact the world for Christ through our strategy
of providing food to Christian organizations that will feed the
hungry and proclaim the gospel.
